|
The Centre for Water, Sanitation, Health and Appropriate Technology Development (WASHTED) conducted four demand-driven short courses in February 2010. The courses were:
1. Groundwater Development for Rural Water Supply; 2. Assessment of Groundwater Quality for Rural Water Supply; 3. Design, Operation, and Maintenance of Gravity-Fed Rural Piped Water Systems; and 4. Food Safety and Hygiene.
Courses 1-3 drew participants from the Ministry of Irrigation and Water Development, the Department of Environmental Affairs, and Water Aid while the course on Food Safety and Hygiene was attended by people from the State House, Concern Universal and the Ministry of Health.
WASHTED intends to conduct similar courses on a regular basis in order to build capacity in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Health Sectors in Malawi in order to help the country attain the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Malawi Government Development Strategy (MGDS).
