Dr Vanwyk Chikasanda holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Technology Education from University of Waikato in New Zealand. He also holds a Master of Education in Educational Research and Evaluation from University of Botswana, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Education and a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Malawi.
Vanwyk is currently Dean of the Faculty of Education and Media Studies and coordinates the Masters degree in Technical and Vocational Education hosted by the Department of Technical Education at the Malawi Polytechnic. Vanwyk has undertaken several research projects including; introduction of technology studies in model primary schools in Malawi, enhancing primary school technical teachers understanding of science and technology as a learning area. Currently he is researching on enhancing of primary school learners technological capabilities: Influence of solar technologies on learners’ problem solving.
Vanwyk has so far published his work in the International Journal of Design and Technology Education and also Malawi Journal of Education Development. He has co-authored two book chapters and made presentations at the Gaborone International Design conference, SANORD Conferences and also SAARMSTE conferences. Research interests are in Technology Education and some publications are listed below:
