  1. FEMALE WARDEN VACANCY

Applications are invited from female academic members of staff to fill position of Warden which is to fall vacant soon.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Dean of Students on counseling students
  • Assisting on domestic relations between and among students and handling conflicts.
  • Assisting students on welfare issues.
  • Liasing with the College Administration on matters affecting the general welfare of the students.
  • Reporting to the Dean of students.

The Warden is required to reside on campus.

2 DIRECTOR OF ICT SERVICES

The Polytechnic, a constituent college of the University of Malawi requires engaging the services of a Director of ICT Services on 3 years contract immediately.  This is a very senior position and requires a well qualified and mature person.

 Key Activities 

Reporting to the Principal, the Director shall:
  •                  Provide leadership to the Polytechnic for ICT services in support of administrative and academic functions.
  •                  Develop and implement Polytechnic ICT strategic plan.
  •                  Direct and manage the planning, budgeting and operations of ICT Services.
  •                  Manage human resource of the Directorate.
  •                Develop information technology services and network policies, operational procedures including disaster recovery and service level agreements.
  •                Serve as a technical resource to departments regarding deployment and extension of ICT services and use of network and information technology.
  •                 Foster a widespread awareness of good computer ethics within the Polytechnic community.
  •               Help solicit funds to support ICT initiatives as appropriate.
  •               Represent the college at the following committees:  UNIMA ICT Wide Committee, College ICT Committee and Heads and Deans Committee.

Core Competencies

We require the person to have the following:
  • Experience in managing and deploying ICT networks and services.
  • Experience in managing technical teams supporting a multi-faceted organization.
  • Experience in building relationships with external service providers (e.g., ISP and Telco’s) technology consultants and development partners.
  • Experience in developing and implementing an annual operating plan, with particular emphasis on achieving value for money.
Qualifications and Experience
  • At least Masters Degree in Computer Science, Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering with at least five years of working experience in ICT of which at least 3 years experience should be at managerial level.
