Dr K. Kanyoma

Before he became the Executive Dean of the School of Education, Communication, and Media Studies (SECOMS) at Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) in February, 2023, Dr. Kizito Elijah Kanyoma was the Dean of the School of Business and Economic Sciences at the same University from December 2020 to January 2023. He previously served as Head of the Department of Business Administration twice from November 2019 to November 2020, and in 2013, respectively, when the University was a constituent college of University of Malawi known as The Polytechnic. 

Between February 2017 and August 2019, Dr Kanyoma worked as a lecturer and web-learn facilitator on a number of undergraduate academic programmes at the University of Newcastle’s School of Human and Social Futures, formerly known as Newcastle Business School, Australia. He has also facilitated online MBA programme at the University of Newcastle. Dr Kanyoma brings to SECOMS valuable expertise and the much-needed global perspective as MUBAS repositions itself as an inclusive, engaged, entrepreneurial, innovative and research-intensive institution of higher learning.  

A business administration graduate from the University of Malawi—The Polytechnic (2005), Kanyoma obtained a Master of Science in Supply Chain Management from the University of Bolton, United Kingdom in 2012. He later secured two fully funded PhD scholarships, courtesy of the Turkish Government, and the Commonwealth of Australia. In 2018, he successfully completed his doctorate in Supply Chain Management at the University of Newcastle, Australia. 

Dr Kanyoma is a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transportation (CILT), and the Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply (MIPS). As a scholar, Dr Kanyoma has published his research in top ranked journals in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, including in the revered International Journal of Logistics Management.  

Before joining the Polytechnic in 2008, Dr Kanyoma worked as a Management Trainee and, later, as Assistant Property Manager (Commercial) with Knight Frank Malawi Limited.
