The dual, Daniel Kwizombe and Victor Daffrece have been nominated for their outstanding innovations which have caught national attention.

Kwizombwe, Chief Executive Officer and owner of Dek Engineering & Electrical Contractors has been nominated for his outstanding work in producing energy saving LED light bulbs and Daffrece, Chief Executive Officer and owner of Spark DeLight,, has been nominated for his innovation on production of soap and detergent. 

 Reacting to the nomination, Daffrece said he is filled with immense pride and motivation because the nomination is a true indication that his flourishing soap and detergent enterprise has made a mark on lives of many. 

He said: ‘’ To be nominated among the best innovators in Malawi is an honour, and this will motivate me to continue striving for excellence.’’

Daffrece continued: ‘’The MUBAS Incubation Programme has been instrumental in my business success. The training provided me with invaluable insights on business planning and strategy. It also provided me with access to funding, mentorship and networking.’’

Meanwhile, Chisomo Thaulo-M’baya, MUBAS Business Incubation Centre Manager, said the nominations highlight the Centre’s effectiveness in fostering entrepreneurial skills among innovators.

‘’ As a centre we are happy that our incubates are able to set up impactful and sustainable businesses. Victor and Daniel are members of our inaugural cohort of incubates, and we are really proud of their achievements,’’ said Thaulo.

Apart from the National Product of Malawi Awards nomination, Daniel is also a recipient of several entrepreneurship and innovation awards including Founders of the Year Award. 

 Spark DeLight has also previously won grants from The National Commission for Science & Technology and Nigeria's Tony Elumelu Foundation.
