Programme Summary

The School of Science and Technology ensures that prospective research students have access to the detailed information about the programme. The information is relayed through advertisements on graduate research opportunities, through departmental literature, or during the promotion of a specific funded research award. The minimum information includes the following: 

  • The broad academic area within which the research activity may be undertaken is Applied Sciences, and where appropriate, a more detailed project description and at least two name(s) of the proposed supervisor(s).
  • The candidate has a Bachelor of Science degree.
  • The resources, including supervision, which the University will make available to research students.

Admission Criteria Requirements

Applicants MUST have any of the following qualifications in a relevant field:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a minimum of a credit in a relevant field.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a strong pass and two years’ work experience in a relevant field.
  • An Honours degree from an accredited university with a minimum of second class in a relevant field.
  • An Honours degree from an accredited university with a third class and one year work experience in a relevant field. 
  • Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will be required to accumulate 60 credits of taught modules relevant to the selected MPhil research area. 

The programme duration is two and half years full time.
