The Malawi Polytechnic, a Constituent College of the University of Malawi, Faculty of Commerce is inviting applications for the following Postgraduate Programmes which will commence in April, 2020.

1. DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD) IN COMMERCE

  1. PhD in Entrepreneurship;

  2. PhD in Strategic Management

  3. PhD in Financial Management

Candidates for PhD programmes must have a relevant Masters or MPhil degree from recognized institutions. The PhD programme is for 3 years.

Fees and Expenses

US$10,000 (Paid in MK Equivalent) for the whole programme will cater for tuition, supervision and examination costs. Research expenses will vary from candidate to candidate based on the nature of research; however indicative figures of US$4,500 for the whole programme for PhD candidates may be used for budgeting purposes.

PhD application dossiers MUST INCLUDE:

  • A completed postgraduate application form;

  • Academic transcripts of all previous university courses taken including percentage scores where necessary;

  • Certified copies of relevant certificates ( to be certified by commissioner of oath);

  • An abstract of master’s research or dissertation;

    A concept paper relating to the proposed research topic which should not be more than 5 pages long. The concept note must include the following;
  • Problem statement
  •   Research objective
  •   Preliminary literature review 
  • Methodology
      References

6. Sample academic writing i.e. publications, conference reports, etc which adhere to the broad conventions of academic publishing (i.e. contain an up-to-date review of relevant literature, description of relevant research methods and an evaluation of results, etc.) and which identify the applicant as a significant contributor (maximum of 30 pages);

7. 1 letter from an academic referee at postgraduate level and one letter from a professional referee and;

A detailed updated Curriculum Vitae.

A non-refundable application fee of K10,000.00

Please note that PhD and candidates may apply for placement at any time of the academic

year.

 Application Procedure Applications MUST INCLUDE:

  4. A detailed updated Curriculum Vitae

  5. 1 letter from an academic referee and 1 letter from professional referee.

  6. A non-refundable application fee of MK10, 000 for Malawian applicants and USD25.00 for international students; and
